British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday night. The fighter was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the passing of his two close friends.”

The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community offered condolences for the champion in the following the terrible crash.
