A budget proposal that would terminate the most extended government shutdown in American history is reaching the House of Representatives for a crucial vote on the coming day.

On the sixth week of the budget deadlock, lawmakers are coming back to Washington to decide whether to pass a Senate package that would finance public services for 60 days.

Republican leadership voiced optimism the spending plan would clear the lower chamber, notwithstanding their tight margin. But top Democrats pledged to fight it.
