Wardley turns 31 in December, and he said: “This is a monumental event for the two of us. It is undoubtedly the largest contest of my boxing journey and the greatest challenge I've faced. But each time I rise to the occasion I elevate my performance. The upcoming fight will be the same. The gap between where Joe is and what others believe about me has been a recurring narrative during my entire career.

“He has vast experience for a considerable period, with a numerous contests on his resume. In no way is he an senior boxer but he has been in the sport for a while and had some heavy fights. I’ve been in a few wars myself and I know they put miles on the clock. He has been in a lot more of those fights than I have.”
