Pat Bamford Signs With Sheffield United After Initiating Derogatory Songs Targeting Manager Wilder

The striker is now a member of Sheffield United only half a year after leading disrespectful chants targeting the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

This experienced striker, without a club since leaving Leeds, has signed a agreement with the second-tier club in difficulty through the winter. Bamford's seven-year spell with Leeds finished amicably this past summer.

One of Bamford’s last memorable actions while at Leeds included starting abusive songs about Wilder amid Leeds' promotion party this spring. Currently, the one-cap England international will feature under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to lift the team he loves out of the drop zone.

Previous Conflict Involving the Striker and Wilder

Both men had a past prior to Leeds won promotion to the top flight last season and United were defeated in the playoff final by Sunderland. The manager called the forward as a "muppet" when the situation was different in 2018-19 and the Blades secured direct promotion while Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation & Looking Ahead

Everything appears to have been forgiven and forgotten with United, the Championship’s least productive attack, urgently requiring of a boost in attack and Bamford aiming to rejuvenate his career.

The song about Wilder went viral in April. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, phoned Wilder the following day.

Wilder said at the time: “Spoke with Pat yesterday and I’ve no issue at all with it. I'm uncertain regarding the language from a fellow pro! But I valued and admired him giving me a call.

“We had a short while and similarly I talked with Daniel Farke as well and had a longer discussion with him and he is a great person, a class act. Back in my playing days we used to dish it out and accept it and that’s part and parcel of the game across all levels, even on Sunday league. I've got absolutely no issue. I'm fine with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”

Latest Career Struggles

The forward featured in 18 games with Leeds United in the previous campaign but the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea & Boro player has struggled with fitness issues over the past few seasons.
