Slot Asserts He Is Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's natural for questions to be raised about his future after a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the club's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from management,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Reaction

Slot expressed regret over recurring failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a phase of this nature with performances so bad.”

He finished, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
